Chatham Township Begins Phase 2 of Its Pilot Commuter Shuttle Program

Following the overwhelming interest in its initial survey of residents on the possibility of establishing a park-and-ride commuter shuttle for Chatham Township residents, the Chatham Township Committee is taking the next step and launching a second survey to better understand the level of commitment among residents in actually utilizing the privately-run service.

Chatham Township Committeeman Curt Ritter said, “The Chatham Township Committee is launching Phase 2 of the proposed Chatham Township Pilot Commuter Shuttle Program that is designed to help address the perennial issue Chatham Township residents encounter every day when trying to park at the Chatham Borough train station.

“I encourage residents who are serious about utilizing this privately-run commuter service to complete the survey (https://bit.ly/30OLSNG), which was prepared in conjunction with TransOptions. We are interested in knowing how many residents will actually utilize the service and the frequency of their usage before formally launching the pilot program, which could begin as early as mid-November depending upon the responses we receive. This initiative, which offers approximately 72 parking spaces between Christ Church and Shunpike Field, will serve as a small step in addressing an issue that has confronted Township residents for years. Separately, we encourage local businesses and realtors who have an interest in sponsoring the shuttle and underwriting costs for commuters to complete the survey as well or to contact me at critter@chathamtownship-nj.gov.”
