Chatham Emergency Squad Receives Donation from the Greater Lafayette Classic
The Greater Lafayette Classic awarded a check in the amount of $1,000 to the Chatham Emergency Squad in recognition for its service to the Chatham community. This donation is the result of funds collected during the organization’s 26th annual golf tournament, held annually in the fall.
Started in 1992 by a group of friends and neighbors who enjoyed playing golf, the Greater Lafayette Classic has evolved into an annual tradition of fun, friendly competition that aims to give back to the Chatham community. In addition to competing for the coveted, if slightly worn, “green jacket” and trophy (which must be returned each year), all proceeds from the golf tournament are given to Chatham services and non-profits. Beneficiaries include the Chatham Emergency Squad, Chatham Borough and Township Fire Departments, the Senior Center of Chatham and scholarships to graduating Chatham High School students.
This year’s tournament will take place at the Fox Hollow Country Club in Branchburg, NJ on October 4 at 9:00 a.m.
“Being awarded this donation is kind of like a hole in one,” said Evan Skinner, President of the Chatham Emergency Squad. “We are so appreciative of the many players and organizers of the Greater Lafayette Classic who participate in this terrific outing each year, supporting organizations such as ours.”
The Chatham Emergency Squad is an all-volunteer organization funded almost exclusively by donations. CES never charges for its services. In 2018 they responded to over 1,200 emergency calls and provided free training in CPR to more than 400 residents, teachers, coaches and emergency personnel.
