Chatham Dedicates Tree to Fallen Soldiers

Five Chatham soldiers were lost in WWI and following the war, in their honor 5 red oak trees were planted. Because these trees were lost over the years, on the 100th Anniversary of the start of WWI, The Chatham Historical Society, rededicated a new red oak tree in memory of these men and their service.

Fred R. Philman was a graduate of the first class of Chatham High School in 1911.

Frederick P. Parcells was a volunteer fireman.

Van Horn D. Wolfe was a talented artist and architect working in NYC.

Eugene P. Hubbard was a graduate of Middlebury College.

Paul C. Van Fleet was engaged to be married when he enlisted.
