German Band, Folk Dancers and Feast to Highlight the Celebration
On Sunday, Oct. 23, 2016, the Kenilworth Historical Society will present “Oktoberfest,” a festive celebration featuring live German music, folk dancing and a delicious feast, at the Kenilworth Veterans Center (33 South 21st Street) from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m
The fun-filled event will feature a dance performance by Bayern Verein Newark, a longestablished club dedicated to the preservation of traditional German and Bavarian folk dances; live music for everyone’s dancing/listening pleasure played by Bernie’s Orchestra, a popular four-piece German-American band led by Bernie Bunger; and a catered buffet-style Oktoberfest Feast including such traditional favorites as knockwurst, bratwurst, herb roasted chicken, sauerkraut, glazed baby carrots, spaetzle, German potato salad, tossed salad, dessert and more!
Admission is $35. Advance reservations (by Oct. 14) are requested. The event seating plan accommodates eight to ten people per table. Early reservations are encouraged to avoid disappointment. For reservations/tickets, please call 908-709-0434 or visit Especially Yours Florist (13 North 20th Street, Kenilworth), where tickets for the event are being sold.
Proceeds from “Oktoberfest” will benefit the Kenilworth Historical Society’s Oswald J. Nitschke House (c. 1880) “living history” museum and cultural arts center by helping defray the cost of an elevator that makes all levels of the newly restored site fully accessible to everyone.
