Special Limited Run of Carrie at CDC Theatre in Cranford
If you’re a fan of Riverdale, Mean Girls, or Buffy the Vampire Slayer, then the cautionary story of high school bullying offered up in Carrie might be for you. CDC Theatre in Cranford is mounting a special summer production of Carrie, the Musical that will have a limited run on August 2, 3 and 4, 2019.
Carrie White is an outsider; bullied at school and at home at the mercy of her loving but cruelly over-protective mother. But Carrie has discovered she has a special power and if pushed, she’s not afraid to use it.
Based on Stephen King’s bestselling novel, this newly reworked version of the musical Carrie is a fully re-imagined vision of this gripping tale. Set today, in the small town of Chamberlain, Maine, Carrie features a book by Lawrence D. Cohen (screenwriter of the classic film), music by Academy Award winner Michael Gore (Fame, Terms of Endearment), and lyrics by Academy Award winner Dean Pitchford (Fame, Footloose).
“We wanted to see if there were interest from college-age students, home for summer break, to do a professional level show that showcases their talents.’, director Sean Lough recent shared. “The amount of talent is incredible. These college students are tomorrow’s stars.”
