All attendees, participants, staff and cast will be required to adhere to such protocols.

ABOUT THE SHOW

In the final scene of Ibsen’s 1879 groundbreaking masterwork, Nora Helmer makes the shocking decision to leave her husband and children, and begin a life on her own. This climactic event—when Nora slams the door on everything in her life—instantly propelled world drama into the modern age. In A DOLL’S HOUSE, PART 2, many years have passed since Nora’s exit. Now, there’s a knock on that same door. Nora has returned. But why? And what will it mean for those she left behind?

CHARACTER BREAKDOWN

Nora: 40-59
40s–50s. Striking, fierce energy. Seems like she could run a board meeting and make a high-stakes deal, or show up at a society holiday party in a head-turning dress. She can read a room and is very shrewd. She has some miles on her emotionally and has made a life for herself by keeping her personal life personal and her relationships at arms length. The idea of having to negotiate this very intimate emotional space in her old house is perhaps the one thing that can still unsettle her.

Torvald: 40-69
40s–60s. Tilts toward the masculine side of the gender spectrum. Has aged a bit prematurely. Carries a heavy weight on his shoulders. Inside he’s probably a very sensitive guy. A bit bewildered by the way his life turned out. Lonely. He’s got some Charlie Brown in him.

Anne Marie: 54-79
Mid 50s–70s. In many ways mirrors Nora. She raised Nora after all and just like any other parent she molded Nora in her image. She’s really the elder statesmen in this household. The Helmers have been her cross to bear and also her passion project for many many years.

Emmy: 18-27
18–mid-20s. Actors of all races and ethnicities are sought and strongly encouraged. Spitfire for sure. She’s got present day tomboy energy in a body refined by Ibsen era finishing school.
