On August 8, Caroline DiGrande and her mother, Jean DiGrande, rolled up their sleeves to help harvest over 25,000 pounds of corn through the “8/8 Community Harvest” event sponsored by Grow-a-Row. Based in Pittstown, the organization aims to positively impact as many lives as possible through a volunteer effort of planting, picking, rescuing, and delivering free produce for those in need. Caroline, who is a junior at Mount Saint Mary Academy in Watchung and a resident of Warren, shared, “Volunteering at Grow-a-Row helped me realize how blessed I am just to have access to healthy food options every day. It is so rewarding to be able to help make fresh produce more accessible to those less fortunate.”
