CAP Cadet Volunteers at Tour de Westfield
Submitted by: Cadet Senior Master Sergeant Theo Karter (NJ-102)
On Sunday, September 26th, 2021, the town of Westfield held the Tour de Westfield, a community bicycle event. The Cadets and Senior Members of the Captain “Bud” Jackson Composite Squadron (NJ-102), a local Civil Air Patrol (C.A.P.) squadron, were able to support the Westfield Police Department by fulfilling one of the organization’s Core Values: Volunteer Service. The Civil Air Patrol was founded in 1941 to support Communities and our Nation.
During the event, Cadets and Senior Members worked alongside the officers to provide crowd and traffic control, in order to ensure the safety of the pedestrians, bicyclists, and vehicles. Over 30 Cadets and Senior Members were in attendance that Sunday morning to aid in a safe and fun filled event. The Mayor of Westfield, Mayor Shelley Brindle, and the Chief of Police, Chief Christopher Battiloro, appreciated the assistance provided by the Captain “Bud” Jackson Composite Squadron and presented the attending cadets with certificates commending them for their service to the community. The Tour de Westfield was a success while providing a needed service for the community to have a fun and healthy day..
