Brearley Students Support Our Troops

As a community, Kenilworth has a long standing tradition of military service. In the past four years, over 20 students from David Brearley High school have joined the United States Armed Forces. Teaming up with the Kenilworth VFW, students in both the United States History II and Global Studies classes, together with their teachers’, Mrs. Gibbons, Ms. Spampinato and Mrs. Marranca, collected various items to be donated to troops currently serving in our active military forces. In addition to donating items, the students in these classes wrote letters thanking the troops for their service and dedication to our country. These letters were sent to them in the boxes of various items. The students collected these items in January 2017. The boxes were sent overseas to a troop that the Kenilworth VFW adopted. The troop that received the boxes was actually one of our Brearley graduates from 2004, Jennifer Johnson. They enjoyed receiving the various items and loved reading all the letters from the studentsThis is such a wonderful thing that the students do every year. The teachers, Mrs. Gibbons, Ms. Spampinato and Mrs. Marranca are to be commended for teaching them about our veterans and our troops serving now.
Keep up the good work. The Kenilworth VFW and our troops thank you from the bottom of their hearts.
