BOXING NIGHT SET IN LINDEN

Linden Boxing Association President, Alfred A. Volpe has announced that the only fight night in Linden this year will be held on October 21, 2016 when the Linden Boxing Association, in conjunction with the Linden Public Property and Community Services Department presents the 83rd Annual New Jersey State Finals of the Diamond Gloves Boxing Tournament.
The full night of championship boxing entertainment is being sponsored by the Phillips 66 Bayway Refinery and will be held at the Linden High School Gymnasium, located at 121 W. St. Georges Ave.
The first fight is scheduled to begin at 8:00pm. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $10.00 each. Doors open at 7:30pm.
According to Linden Boxing Association Founder, Tony Orlando, “This is the fifteenth consecutive year that we are hosting the Diamond Glove Tournament State Finals here in Linden and also the fifteenth consecutive year that our friends from the Phillips 66 Bayway Refinery are sponsoring the event. Without their sponsorship, we wouldn’t be able to have this successful night of amateur boxing that annually supports, through its proceeds, a varied amount of programs for our city’s youth. Since our beginning, we have donated in excess of $475,000.00 to the Linden Recreation Department for their youth programs.”
Expecting to be in attendance at this year’s championship bouts is, Bobby Czyz, Former World Light Heavyweight and Cruiserweight Champion. Additional world class boxers have been invited and the committee is awaiting word on who will be attending.
Tickets can also be purchased at the Community Center Building, 605 S. Wood Ave., Linden until October 14th. Don’t forget to bring your autograph books.
