The Berkeley Heights Youth Soccer Club (BHYSC) U12 Girls Galaxy soccer team brought home the State Championship Title in the New Jersey Youth Soccer President’s Cup Tournament with a 2-1 victory over the Barrington Galaxy on Sunday, Nov. 1st in Lawrenceville.
The Championship game, between the BHYSC Galaxy and Barrington Galaxy, came down to a 0-0 draw at the end of regulation time. Both teams scored a goal apiece in overtime sending the teams to penalty kicks. BHYSC prevailed, with a score of 4 to 1.
The BHYSC Galaxy team is made up of players from Berkeley Heights Mountainside. Every game in this NJ Youth Soccer multi-week tournament was extremely competitive. The BHYSC Galaxy girls played each game with drive and determination.With tight competition, the margin of victory in every game was onegoal.
The multi-week tournament opened up with a 1-0 shutout victory over Pasco Red Devils on Oct. 4th. Moving on to the quarterfinals, they defeated Lawrence Hammett SA Leopards, 2-1, on Oct. 18th. At the semi finals, they defeated the Rancocas Valley SC RV United Premier, 2-1, on Oct. 31st, advancing to the finals.
Congratulations to the girls and the best of luck to them as they advanceto represent New JerseyYouth Soccer in Region 1, consisting of teams from Maine to Maryland.
