Movie Night at Hanson House to Kick-off Family-Friendly Weekend Events
Cranford’s annual cookout will be held on Sunday, May 21st, from 4:30-7:00 p.m. Cranford families are invited to join in the fun as Cranford’s police, fire and municipal employees grill for the town! The town-wide family dinner event will include free food, live music, crafts, face painting, a dunk tank and much more entertainment for the whole family! This year, the Alliance is asking attendees to wear their Cougar Colors and Paws to show community support!
The Cranford Municipal Alliance introduced the town-wide cookout in the Spring of 2015 to help promote its biggest initiative, family dinner night. The event has gained popularity since inception and attracted over 2,000 attendees last year.
“The Alliance introduced family dinner night a few years ago and since then, it’s evolved into so much more,” said William Ilaria, Chairman of the Alliance. “Cranford is a tight-knit community and by working together, we are providing our children with a safe environment to flourish in. It’s been proven that family dinners are the best prevention strategy for families trying to keep their children alcohol and substance free and we’re hosting one of the largest community cookouts in the area to remind everyone of the importance of having a routine family dinner.”
Other family-friendly activities will be underway throughout the weekend, including a movie night at the Hanson House on Saturday, May 20th, at dusk, sponsored by the Hanson House Conservancy. A family yoga class will be held by the Conservancy’s own yoga instructor, Bridget Briant on Sunday, May 21st, before the CMA town-wide cookout. In addition, a walk to explore historic sites throughout the town sponsored by the Historic Preservation Advisory Board will take place on Sunday the 21st.
