The Arthur L. Johnson High School Alumni Association Scholarship Chairperson, Dolores Toth, has announced that the association is offering up to four $1000 scholarships for this year’s senior Class. Last year, the group awarded three $1000 scholarships to Danielle Marzano, Emily Kirk, and Louis Cacchione.
Scholarships are available to students planning to attend a college, university, or trade school. Applications can be picked up in the guidance department and must be returned no later than March 24. The Association offers two scholarships, of which one is in the memory of Susan (Bakum) Caravillano ’61. Two additional awards are presented in the names of Donald Storms ’59 and Ralph Marano ’65.
An Association dinner is planned for May 5, 2016, where the scholarship awardees will be presented along with inductees into the ALJ Hall of Fame. Last year, the Hall inducted Mathew Poskay ‘02, Philip Guido ‘79, Ralph Marano ’65, Henry Varriano ’61, Tom McManamy ’59, and Distinguished Faculty member, Robert Kastner. The first class of inductees included Lou Peragallo, Dr. Ken Hauswald ’63, Dennis Carpini ’65, Alan Richer ’72, Astronaut Ken Ham ’63, and Pierina (Saracino) Pantano ’87. Additional information re: this year’s inductees will soon be available on the high school website as well as the Association website, aljalumni.org.
