First graders at Mount Horeb School celebrated a successful winter break Reading Challenge with a pajama party on Jan. 8.
“We have a special treat for you because you each read 100 minutes over the break,” said Grade 1 teacher Rebecca Maag, as fellow teacher Denise Kennedy wheeled in a cart of homemade hot cocoa. Each student was asked to read at least 10 minutes per day while completing a special page that depicted a mug of hot cocoa with “marshmallow” reading challenges, including “read to your stuffed animal,” “read to learn something,” “read under the table,” and “read while wearing your mittens.”
