Appointment of Superintendent Dr. Anne Mucci

On Monday, December 14, 2020, the Long Hill Township Board of Education with a unanimous vote approved Dr. Anne Mucci as the district’s next superintendent, commencing January 1, 2021.

Dr. Mucci, a seasoned Morris County Superintendent, served in various administrative roles in the Mountain Lakes School District,

including Superintendent (2011-2019), Curriculum Director, Assistant Director of Special Services, High School Principal, and Middle School Assistant Principal. In her current role as the Executive Director of the New Jersey Association for Supervision and Curriculum  evelopment,  she leads educators throughout the state and nation in the development of high-quality  curriculum and professional development. Throughout her career, Dr. Mucci has demonstrated a  strong commitment to educating the whole child and building strong partnerships with all  stakeholders.

“Dr. Mucci has a wealth of experience in educational leadership, operations management, and  community engagement,” said Board president Marta Moakley. “Above all, she prioritizes  student achievement. I have every confidence that, as a strategic thinker and problem solver, she  will lead the Long Hill Township School District during these challenging times in education, as  we navigate the realities of the pandemic.”

Dr. Mucci’s selection is the culmination of an extensive and thorough search for Long Hill’s new  superintendent. After multiple interview rounds with a rich pool of highly qualified candidates, the Superintendent Search Committee recommended round three candidates for the full Board’s consideration.

Karen Nyquist, chair of the Superintendent Search Committee, shared, “Having served as chair  of three superintendent searches, I can say this search presented the committee with the most  difficult choices I had experienced as the candidate pool was very impressive. Dr. Mucci  exceeded our expectations and the committee and board as a whole were unanimous in their final selection. I am personally excited to have her start her stewardship of Long Hill.”

At the end of the round three interviews and after comprehensive background and reference  checks, the Long Hill Board of Education presented Dr. Mucci to the school community for a  virtual meet and greet. The positive feedback from administrators, staff, and community members was encouraging, crediting Dr. Mucci as genuine, open, and knowledgeable.

Dr. Mucci is excited at the opportunity to join the Long Hill Township School District team: “I  am impressed by the quality and dedication of the faculty, staff, and administration of Long  Hill,” Dr. Mucci said. “It is an honor to be afforded the opportunity to lead such a caring and  close knit community. I look forward to getting to know the students and families of the district.”

Dr. Mucci will work closely with interim superintendent Dr. Laura Morana to ensure a smooth transition.

The district thanks Dr. Morana for her leadership, guidance, and expertise these past few months. Dr. Morana has risen to the challenges presented by the COVID pandemic and hybrid and  remote learning, in addition to the day to day operations of the district. The Long Hill School  district is grateful for the time Dr. Morana has devoted to our school community and is  appreciative of the work she has put into preparing the district for its next instructional leader.
