Nominations Being Sought for the 2019 Scotch Plains Mayor’s Charity Gala
This year the Scotch Plains Mayor’s Gala will again honor a male and female volunteer of the year in addition to a volunteer organization of the year. Nominations are now open and everyone is encouraged to nominate a special person or organization to be honored at the Gala on December 6, 2019.
The only requirement is that the volunteer work must be done in Scotch Plains. Nomination forms may be obtained from the Scotch Plains Recreation Office, Scotch Plains Municipal Building, 430 Park Avenue, online at scotchplainsnj.govor at the Scotch Plains Public Library. Nominations are due by June 30, 2019.
“The Mayor’s Gala is a great opportunity to recognize those people and organizations that are making a difference in Scotch Plains,” said Mayor Al Smith. “In addition to the recognition, the honorees designate a charity to receive a portion of the proceeds of the event, so we have double the winners! Please help us identify our honorees for this year’s Gala.”
This year’s Mayor’s Charity Gala will be held on December 6, 2019 at Shackamaxon Country Club in Scotch Plains from 7 p.m. – 11 p.m. The Gala will feature live music by the Moon Glowers of Scotch Plains Fanwood High School, a Tricky Tray, Silent Auction and 50/50 Raffle. Tickets are $85 per person and include cocktail hour, passed appetizers and light fare.
The Scotch Plains-Fanwood Municipal Alliance Committee (SPF MAC) will be the recipient of a portion of the proceeds of the Mayor’s Gala. The alliance is a community-based organization dedicated to a comprehensive and coordinated effort on the prevention of illegal use of alcohol and drugs. SPF MAC main focus is on alcohol abuse amongst our minors. MAC has served our communities since 1988 supporting programs such as Project Graduation, Think Purple Week, and Student Leadership Conference
