Linden Police Open Newly Renovated Fitness Center
The Linden Police Department officially opened the doors to the newly renovated Fitness Center on Monday, April 29, 2019. Mayor Armstead joined Chief Hart, community partners, and other city officials to tour the completed project, which included the overhaul of the Department’s IT Department and Muster Room.
“The space was effectively unusable in its previous state, and these renovations were desperately needed,” said Police Chief David Hart.
One of the most significant improvements to the fitness center is the addition of a separate women’s locker room. “Women comprise nearly 10% of the department, so the fact that there weren’t separate facilities before now is pretty astonishing,” said Chief Hart.
A majority of the work on the four-month project was completed by the Linden Public Property staff, and generous donations from Linden Policeman’s Benevolent Association Local #42, the Linden Police Superior Officers Association, Linden-based Infineum, USA, and Orange Theory Fitness of Garwood helped to offset the costs.
“Our community is blessed with generous partners,” added Chief Hart. “The collective efforts to see this project through to completion is inspirational, and we are very pleased and grateful for the results.”
Chief Hart also thanked City Treasurer Alexis Zack, Director of Public Property, Community Services Frank Dann, Public Property Manager Tony Coplan and Public Property Supervisor Brian Samer for recognizing the importance of these improvements and making them a priority.
