March is upon us, and hopefully we will be having nice weather coming soon!
I’d like to extend hearty congratulations to our Kenilworth Boy Scouts, Troop 83, as they defended their title in the Klondike Derby against 20 other teams from across the County and won their second consecutive victory! The Klondike Derby is a circuit course where wilderness and winter survival skills are put to task in a competitive environment. Each team must pull a hand-built dog sled that carries all equipment needed as well as personnel gear. The Scouts pull their sled to each station where they are presented a skill challenge. Please join me in giving these young men well-deserved congratulations!
Which brings me to another topic; Kenilworth utilizes the Swift 911 system to get information via landline phone or to cell phones if you wish. Sign up is free and is located on our Kenilworth Borough website. Our goal is to get everyone signed up and we will have information and a sign-up at the Senior Center, so we can help those who might need assistance in registering. In times of crisis, the ability to get information quickly and accurately is imperative, this system allows the authorities to reach as many people as possible.
I would like to remind everyone while the season of giving is technically over, there are still people in need throughout the year. I would like to take this time to remind everyone to help stock your local food pantry.
Non-perishable goods and gift cards to any supermarket can be left in the Cry Room at St. Theresa’s Church after any Mass. Monday through Friday donations can be dropped off at the Rectory from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Supermarket gift cards and/or check donations (payable to St. Theresa’s) can be mailed to: Social Concerns, c/o The Church of St. Theresa, 541 Washington Ave, Kenilworth, NJ 07033.
If you are in need of food, you can contact the Rectory at 908-272-4444, they will arrange
for a volunteer to meet you at the pantry. All identity of people receiving assistance is kept confidential!

Thank you to our many volunteers in town, everyday people, taking time out of their busy schedules to make a difference in town. Our Fire Department and Rescue Squad are second to none and I am very proud of the people I serve with.
I would also like to thank our Municipal employees for doing a great job, everyone from the clerks to Public Works; you’re the gears that keep the machine running. Special thanks to our Police for being out there 24-7, 365 days a year keeping our town safe.
God Bless you all! And God Bless America!
