The Summit Fire Department was recently honored by the Burn Center at Saint Barnabas Medical Center for its rescue efforts at the December 31, 2017 fire in Summit, NJ. On arrival at the scene, fire department personnel were met with heavy fire conditions throughout the building and made multiple rescues of occupants trapped on the second and third floors. Although 12 families lost homes that night, no life-threatening injuries were sustained by either the occupants or firefighters during the incident.
