Food Truck Festival and Oktoberfest with the Millington Volunteer Fire Company

Submitted by Brendan Rae

Millington residents are extremely fortunate compared to the inhabitants of the fictional Scottish village of Brigadoon. Whereas Brigadoon comes to life only once every 100 years for just one day, Millington, thanks to Millington Volunteer Fire Company, comes to life every year and the festivities last for a whole month.

This year, Millington is set to rouse from its slumbers on Saturday September 8, 2018 for yet another September to remember as the Fire Company kicks off its post-Labor Day social calendar with its 4th Annual Food Truck Festival. The month is perfectly bookended with the Fire Company’s Oktoberfest extravaganza on Saturday September 29, 2018.

Millington’s Oktoberfest, also in its 4th year, is rumored to be a topic of concern at the highest levels of the Bavarian government. As yet unconfirmed reports indicate that officials worry that the crowds at the Munich Oktoberfest may be significantly reduced this year due to revelers’ preference for Millington’s Oktoberfest.

Food Truck Festival attendees will sip, gulp, chew and munch their way through a virtual cornucopia of exotic dishes prepared by chefs painstakingly chosen by the Firehouse gourmands after a rigorous selection procedure. Each dish they prepare will be perfectly complemented by an unparalleled selection of the most exquisite offerings of the grape and grain ever assembled in Long Hill Township, each chosen to accentuate the subtle flavors of each and every viand and titillate even the most jaded of palettes. Suffice to say that only the finest Old and New World wines will be served along with premier selections of none but the craftiest of local craft breweries.

The mellifluous strains of rock, pop and jazz provided by the most gifted of local bands will permeate the afternoon and evening air to put the final touches on yet another memorable Food Truck Festival provided courtesy of the Millington Volunteer Fire Company.

Everyone is invited to join Millington Volunteer Fire Company in this annual fundraiser. It is a unique opportunity to spend quality time with family and friends, catch up with neighbors after the long summer break, and meet new people. We look forward to seeing you.
