Mountainside 11th Grade Ambassador Girl Scout Troops 40443 and 40468 completed their “Sow What” Journey project by planting a pollinator memory garden at Imagine, A Center for Coping with Loss in Mountainside.
“Partnering with the girls scouts was a joy,” said Mary Robinson, Imagine Executive Director. “They did an incredible job of designing and sourcing the plants and the beautiful butterfly bench for a memory garden for Imagine.”
Children and parents who attend Imagine will paint rocks in memory of the person in their life who died which will be placed throughout the garden. All the rocks were dug up by the girls as they worked to create the garden. Come back in the spring to see all the bulbs in bloom! Special thanks to Clare Minick of Minick Smart Gardening for assisting with the project. Special thanks also to Williams Nursery, The Home Depot, Lowe’s, Dreyer Farms and Bartell Farm & Garden Supply for generously contributing to the garden. Most of the plants planted will attract butterflies and bees.
Imagine is a free year round grief support center for children, teens, parents and adults coping with the loss of a family member due to death, or caring for a family member with a life-altering illness. Imagine is designed to help children and teens develop healthy coping skills and foster resiliency and emotional well-being for all those who grieve. Imagine provides grief support and education throughout the year for children, parents and adults through its bi-weekly peer support groups, youth workshops and in-service workshops in schools, community agencies and workplaces. Additionally, Imagine provides community-wide days of remembrance, and on-site peer support in schools and workplaces after any traumatic loss.
