Paul Robeson Youth Achievement Awards

On April 4, 2017 Raritan Valley Community College held the 27th Annual Paul Robeson Youth Achievement Awards Program. The featured keynote speaker was Dr. Gloria Boseman of New Jersey City University. The program is named in honor of the late humanitarian and scholar. Each year the Paul Robeson Institute for Ethics, Leadership, and Social Justice; founded by Evelyn Field, selects deserving middle school students within Somerset County that exemplify the legacy of Robeson. Nominations are presented by faculty members of select middle schools,
The students were recognized for their achievements and leadership in scholarship, arts, athletics and community service. This year’s recipients from North Plainfield Middle School are Ashley Dawsey and Ka’Chane Russell. These young women represent the best and the brightest of our nation. This award captures the essence of who they are and the legacy they will leave behind as they transition to high school.
