St. Michael’s School – Warriors for Warriors Run

On Saturday, May 20^th, Armed Forces Day, the Home School Association of Saint Michael School in Cranford will host a spring USATF Certified 5k and 1mile “Fun Run” to benefit both Operation Shoebox NJ and Saint Michael School. The event will be held at Nomahegan Park located at 1024 Springfield Avenue in Cranford, NJ. All are invited to participate in this community event.
For the 5K race, awards will be presented to Top Overall M/F finishers and Top M/F finishers by age group. All participants in both the 1 mile “Fun Run” and 5K will receive dog tags.
Registration will be available prior to the start of the fun run at 8:30am. The 1 mile run will begin at 9:00am. After May 1^st the cost of the “Fun Run” is $25.00; the 5k race will begin at 9:30am, the registration cost is $ $35.00. Online registration is available at: www.compuscore.com.
Founded in 2005, Operation Shoebox NJ is an all-volunteer grass roots organization dedicated to collecting donated supplies and shipping care packages to U.S. troops based in Iraq, Afghanistan and other Middle East countries. They are committed to sending care packages overseas as long as there is a need. Several times each year, volunteers gather to sort donated supplies and pack them in boxes to be shipped. They rely on the compassion and patriotism to maintain their supply line and to assist with the shipping cost of sending the care packages to our brave men and women. Over the last 12 years Operation Shoebox has shipped more than 100,000 packages to U.S. Military personnel.
One of the missions of Saint Michaels School is to promote the spiritual, academic and personal formation of their students. The students are encouraged to live these teachings beyond the doors of the school and into local and world communities. One way to do this is through volunteering and helping others. Saint Michael School will be donating a portion of the funds generated by this race to the Operation Shoebox NJ organization to help with the shipping costs of the care packages.
