“A CELEBRATION OF STAR TREK – THE ORIGINAL SERIES”

The Friends of the Cranford Public Library are pleased to present “A Celebration of Star Trek – The Original Series” on Tuesday, March 7, at 7:30 p.m. in the Cranford Community Center. The Cranford Community Center is located at 220 Walnut Avenue.
Star Trek celebrated its fiftieth anniversary in 2016, and its popularity – as well as that of the dozens of movies and television series based on the original – continues to this day. Paul Cirillo of AstronomyNJ.com will take a look back to 1966 and share some of the highlights of the show, talk about the cast, and reveal some interesting facts, including the impact Star Trek has had on scientists and explorers of today. And, of course, there will be some trivia questions for die-hard fans!
Following the presentation, there will be an open discussion period for all to share their Star Trek memories, experiences, and memorabilia. Paul Cirillo is a board member of the New Jersey Astronomical Association, which operates the largest public observatory in New Jersey. He was also the founder of Somerset County’s 4-H Space & Astronomy Club and its leader for ten years. He has a Bachelor of Science degree from Rutgers and is an outreach “Ambassador” for NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
Admission to the program is free and all are welcome. To see other upcoming programs sponsored by the Friends of the Cranford Public Library, visit Web page at cranfordlibrary.org.
