Local Tutor Helps Student Achieve Perfection

Earning a perfect score on the Reading section of the ACT, a college admissions test, is something that is accomplished by only about 4 in every 1,000 students. These long odds became a reality for Sophia Bobrowsky of Colonia and her tutor Kristen Angelo of New Providence.
“I knew after our first tutoring session that there was something special about Sophia and that her current test scores did not reflect her true potential,” said Mrs. Angelo, a teacher at Union Catholic Regional High School and owner of Preferred Results Tutoring LLC, a New Providence based tutoring company specializing in SAT prep, ACT prep, and college admissions essays.
Sophia, a senior at Union Catholic, initially scored a 26 on the Reading section, but she worked hard to increase this score to a perfect 36. “We practiced the fundamentals, but we also spent a great deal of time reviewing the tricks needed to do very well on this particular test,” said Mrs. Angelo. “A successful lesson is not determined by the amount of practice test questions that a student can answer. Instead, I maximize the time with each student by continually gauging strengths and weaknesses and customizing the lessons accordingly.”
“This is a life-changing accomplishment that she will have for the rest of her life, and she deserves all the credit for achieving it,” said Mrs. Angelo, but Sophia respectfully disagrees. “Without Mrs. Angelo I would not have done so well.”
After finding out that she is a part of an elite selection of perfect scorers, Sophia hopes to attend Columbia, NYU, George Washington, or American University.
