Watchung Library Friends Thanks Supporters For a Productive 2016

The Friends of the Watchung Library had a busy 2016! In addition to supporting more than 18 Watchung Library program, many focusing on summer reading to help young readers retain literacy skills, the Friends also donated thousands of books “weeded” from the library – many to schools. Further, the Friends supported the Watchung Public Schools by contributing items for PTO fundraisers and helped make Watchung’s farmers’ markets a success by drawing customers in with a diverse selection of hundreds of DVDs and CDs. Patrons also sought out the Friends’ many sidewalk sales taking home favorite selections at bargain prices.
Recently, the Friends enriched holiday shopping at the Watchung PTO holiday boutique held at Bayberry School with its display of hundreds of gift-worthy books. Finally, in an effort to keep our planet green, during the holidays and throughout the year, the Friends continued to provide residents affordable reading materials, movies, and music at Second Story Books (upstairs in the Watchung Library), keeping thousands of materials out of landfills. Visit us on Facebook to read the latest Friends’ news, trivia and information about how to join.
With each action listed above, the Friends has striven to serve the public and in turn, appreciates the public’s support; this fellowship being the true meaning of community. The Friends of the Watchung Library thanks its many supporters in 2016 and wishes everyone a happy 2017.
