SCHOOLS RECEIVE SAFETY GRANT FROM NJSIG

The Warren Township School District has received a $4,106 grant to invest in safety-related projects and improvements. The safety grant was awarded in August by the New Jersey Schools Insurance Group (NJSIG), a member-owned joint insurance fund for public school districts that provides property, casualty and workers’ compensation insurance to public and charter schools in New Jersey. The grant money will be used for emergency kits for classrooms in all five of the district’s schools.
“The process involved in qualifying for these grants enables the district to show the constant and consistent steps it takes toward ensuring safety in the district. In turn, we then receive grant monies to further assist in matters of district safety,” said Patricia Leonhardt, the district’s Business Administrator. “Kudos to Buildings and Grounds Supervisor Tyler Tribelhorn and his team, who keep safety first in all of their work.”
According to NJSIG, the Safety Grant Program was established in 2009 to promote proactive risk management and to provide funding to districts for such safety projects. “These grant awards continue a tradition of partnership between NJSIG and our member districts that can really contribute to the development of a strong safety culture in our New Jersey school district communities,” states NJSIG. NJSIG is awarding a total of $2.2 million in safety grants to member districts in 2016.
