Memo From The Mayor

Hello Kenilworthians! September was a rough month, let us all hope and pray for a better October. I’d like to take this time to speak to you all about the recent current events. This might be hard on some ears and eyes but I need to express to all of you the seriousness of the situation. And as hard as this is to think about, we have to realize this is the reality and we all have to accept the fact that terroristic threats and attacks are happening HERE, not on YouTube, not is some other county but HERE. This is not the time to insulate yourself, your family members or your children from the fact that there are people in this world that have a belief system that want to eradicate our way of life. If you see something, say something, be wary, be vigilant educate yourself and your loved ones one what to do in the event of another attack and how to prevent one. I ask you not to be afraid, this is not the time, have hope and faith, be cautious but our way of life must continue. I love this Country, my Town and my Kenilworthians, as a Mayor, First Responder, Husband, Father and Friend and I know you will all join me in doing whatever we can to protect it..
MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOR A BUSY OCTOBER, HERE ARE SOME IMPORTANT DATES;
• 10/5 is our North side Bulk Pick-up followed by 10/12 with will be our South Side Pickup,
• 10/10 is Emergency Nurse’s day
• 10/9 – 10/15 is Fire Prevention Week! Keep in mind that if your detector is over 10 years old it’s time for a replacement and don’t forget to replace your batteries.
• 10/15 & 10/16 is the Four Centuries in a weekend, please stop by the Nitschke house located next to the Kenilworth Veteran’s Center.
• 10/16 is Boss’s Day,
• And we all know 10/31 is Halloween, stay tuned for announcements from Kenilworth Recreation for our Spooktacular and other events.
• Reminder 11/6 is Daylight savings time don’t forget to set your clocks back 1 hour.
• 11/8 is the general election, don’t forget your vote counts! Make the most of it.
• 11/11 Triple 11’s is Veteran’s day, when you see a veteran please thank him/her for their service to this great County.

**THE LOCAL FOOD PANTRY SUFFERED A LOSS OF ALL OUR PERISHABLE GOODS AND IS IN NEED OF OUR HELP.
Non-perishable goods like hot/cold cereal, instant potato, rice, stuffing, flour, sugar, ramen noodles, jar pasta sauce, shelf stable milk and gift cards to any supermarket can be left in the Cry Room at St. Theresa’s Church after any Mass. Monday – Friday donations can be dropped off at the Rectory (9 am – 5 pm) Supermarket gift cards and or check donations (payable to St. Theresa’s) can be mailed to: Social Concerns, c/o The Church of St. Theresa, 541 Washington Ave, Kenilworth, NJ 07033 If you are in need of food, you can contact the Rectory at 908-272-4444, they will arrange  for a volunteer to meet you at the pantry.
All identities of people receiving assistance are kept confidential!
