 The Mountainside Public Library has scheduled the following programs for October. The Library will be closed on Monday, October 10 in observance of Columbus Day.
Tuesday Night Movies
October 11.
Inspired by true events, Eddie the Eagle is a feel-good story about Michael “Eddie” Edwards the courageous British ski-jumper who never stopped believing in himself – even as an entire nation was counting him out.
With the help of a rebellious and charismatic coach, Eddie takes on the establishment and wins the hearts of sports fans around the world by making an improbable and historic showing at the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics. (PG-13). Movie starts at 6:30 PM.
Brown Bag Academy,
“Guided Meditation for Inner Peace”
Thursday, October 13 at 7:30 PM.
Join us every month as we explore and experience the most talked about evidence based meditation techniques for inner peace, overall well-being and stress reduction.
Sally Younghans returns this month with a program about “Mantras and Mudras”- Learn the fundamentals and customize according to your needs.
Opera on Film Series
Friday, October 14 at 1:00 PM.
Friday Operas on Film series, sponsored by the T. Robel Hill Foundation and presented by Mena Clemson, will be showing La Bohème by Giacomo Puccini. Recorded in 1977, this film stars Luciano Pavarotti and Renata Scotto. James Levine conducts The Metropolitan Opera Orchestra and Chorus.
“Book Sale”
The Friends of the Library will be conducting their annual Fall Book Sale in the Library’s Community Room this month. Drop off begins on
Saturday, October 15
and continues until
Wednesday, October 19
during the Library’s open hours.
The Book Sale runs on
Friday, October 21 and
Saturday October 22, 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM
with a “Bag Day” sale on
Monday, October 24.
Donations of new and gently used books, CDs, DVDs, audiobooks, puzzles and games are requested.
