PUBLIC IS INVITED TO THE PICNIC IN THE PARK ON SEPTEMBER 10TH

Everyone is invited to the Picnic in the Park, to be held on Saturday, September 10th. It is a party to honor Long Hill Township’s 150th anniversary. It will kick-off at 3 pm on Field 2 at Matthew G. Kantor Memorial Park on Valley Road and all residents are invited to come together with family, friends and neighbors to enjoy this celebration of our community.
Hamburgers and hot dogs will be served by the Stirling Fire Company and the Millington Fire Company will host a craft Beer Garden. Food and soda will be free to all guests and be sure to claim your commemorative mug upon checking in. Supplies are limited so come early. There will be music from our DJ, amazement and mystification from our roving balloon artist and magician, and face painting for the children courtesy of the Girl Scouts. On the way to the field remember to claim your Scavenger Hunt prize and visit the booths of our gracious sponsors, Millington Bank, Shoprite and the Chamber of Commerce. Children bring your appetites because there will also be a pie eating contest sponsored by Shoprite.
At 7.30 pm there will be a Dedication Ceremony for the Time Capsule at the front of Town Hall. The capsule will remain buried until the Townships bicentennial in 2066. The contents are being finalized but fear not they will be sufficient for residents of 50 years hence to marvel at how quaint and simple our lives are – no robots or teleportation devices, phones that are merely “smart”, and bodies that actually age. The night will end with yet another unparalleled display of pyrotechnic delight from Millington’s own Garden State Fireworks.
There will be parking at the Municipal Complex, Gillette School and the Senior Center. All guests are encouraged to car pool as much as possible.
Please save the date and be sure to join us for this most auspicious of days in Township history.
