On May 14, 2016, teenagers from ages 12 to 18 participated in the Joint Base McGuire-Dix- Lakehurst Open House Air Show as part of the Civil Air Patrol Cadet Program for middle school and high school students.
CAP members provided STEM demonstrations, aircraft static displays, event program sales, and some had the honor of escorting distinguished visitors to the Center Stage. In addition, CAP members provided flight orientation training on computer simulators to young visitors that stopped by the CAP booth.
Children also had the chance to pose in the CAP F-16 model. During this event, CAP members answered many questions from the public about the CAP youth program in areas such as Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math activities (STEM), Cyber Security activities, Robotics competitions, the Orientation Flight program, basic customs, courtesies, drills, and much more.
The Civil Air Patrol Capt. “Bud” Jackson Squadron is open to the youth of Union County (west area) and Morris County (south east area). Cadets meet every Tuesday from 7:00PM to 9:00PM at the Chatham High School in room L10. The CAP cadet program is open to students from ages 12 to 18 years old.
