Phillips 66 Citizen Philanthropy Grant Program recently donated $100,000 to the Linden Fire Department. The funds will be used to install early warning equipment to notify the Linden Fire and Police Departments as to when a train is blocking Lower Rd. This will allow for faster response time to this area of the city.
A Quiet Zone will also be established so the trains will no longer have to sound their whistle before crossing.
This quality of life issue for the 7th Ward residents has become a priority for Mayor Armstead and 7th Ward Councilmen Ralph Strano.
