TOUR OF MOUNTAINSIDE’S GARDEN TO BENEFIT HISTORICAL SOCIETY

Saturday, June11th is the date for the Mountainside Restoration Committee’s “Tour of Mountainside’s Gardens.” A rain date of June 12th is planned. The Committee has lined up 6 unique private home gardens, which will be decked out in late-Spring splendor.
The tour runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a special Garden Tour lunch planned at Mountainside’s Public House restaurant, which will open only for tour guests from 12-4 p.m. Garden fans can start touring in the morning and lunch afterward, or lunch first and tour gardens in the afternoon.
One of the meticulously manicured gardens located in the Orchard section of Mountainside reflects a true love of gardening in the hands-on gardener homeowners. As a member of the Rake & Hoe Garden Club, this homeowner takes great pride in her backyard garden, which will feature an “Afternoon Tea” theme. Visitors will be delighted at the hard work and dedication put into all these gardens over the years.
Other homes on the tour are uniquely themed and will feature a garden wedding theme, Fortunoff’s patio furniture display, a hidden pool garden, a backyard vegetable garden, a professional gardener’s garden, raffle, photo display, and refreshments.
Advance tickets for Mountainside’s Garden Tour are $45 for Tour and Lunch or $30 for Tour only and can be purchased online at mountainsidehistory.org or at Christ offers Flower & Gift Shop located at 860 Mountain Avenue in Mountainside. Limited tickets will also be sold on the day of the tour at each Garden Tour location for $35 for tour and $15 for lunch.
Proceeds from the tour and lunch will be used by the Mountainside Restoration Committee for restoration and maintenance of the historic Hetfield and Levi Cory houses.
The Mountainside Restoration Committee (aka, Mountainside Historic Committee) is a 501(c)(3) registered not-for-profit committee of volunteers governed by the Borough of Mountainside whose purpose is to restore and maintain the Deacon Andrew Hetfield House and Levi Cory House and collect and save historic information and items from destruction.
