Last weekend, six vocalists from Mount Saint Mary Academy in Watchung participated in the All-State Chorus, most competitive singing contest in New Jersey, according to Marion Drew, Director of Choral Activities and Theater Classes. “They competed against over 1,000 singers, and two of our students were accepted into this very elite ensemble, which only accepts 400 singers,” she said. Sydney Nigro of Westfield and Catharine Meade of Clark, both sophomores, will sing in Atlantic City in November and at NJPAC in Newark after many rehearsals in preparation for the concerts over the next several months. “I am so very proud of Catharine and Sydney, and the four other girls who tried out for this highly competitive group. It takes courage to do this and a willingness to give so much of your talents, which they have in abundance, and their time, which is very limited. They are going to have an amazing experience, which they really deserve,” said Mrs. Drew.
