Long Hill First Responders Receive Donation of Equipment to Save Pets’ Lives

The Long Hill First Aid Squad has a new lifesaving tool, specially designed oxygen masks for pets. The masks were donated through Canine Saves. This project of the Canine Company is to provide masks to first responders in communities where the company’s clients live.
Bob English, Captain of the Long Hill First Aid Squad, requested the masks after learning about the project. Each set of masks comes in three sizes to fit many pets, from small mammals like rabbits up through giant-breed dogs. They connect to the standard oxygen tanks that rescue teams carry.
“Over the years Long Hill Township has had a number of house fires where pets have been rescued. I hope we never have to use these canine oxygen masks, but I know we will,” said Captain English.
So far this year, Canine Company has donated more than 40 sets of masks to 18 fire departments and first aid squads across New Jersey including those in neighboring towns like Bernardsville, Basking Ridge, Martinsville, North Plainfield, and Stirling.
“At Canine Company, we offer products and services to help pet parents keep their pets healthy, safe, and happy at home: we believe in community outreach that does the same,” said Renee Coughlin, of Canine Company. “We hope to donate to first responders in other towns where our clients live.”
The company provides at-home pet care products and services including the Invisible Fence(r) brand pet containment systems and Manners obedience training to pet parents across New Jersey, New York, and the New England states.
