Cranford’s First Presbyterian Church Honored Its Scouts

Submitted By: Keith Santulli, Committee Chair, Pack 103

On Sunday February 7th, the First Presbyterian Church of Cranford held Scout Sunday services. Scouts from Boy Scout Troop 80, Girl Scout Troop 40525 and Cub Scout Pack 103 attended in their class A uniforms.
The service opened with an honor guard led by the Scouts who presented the American flag and Troop colors, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. Next the congregation joined in with the hymn “On My Honor,” which is a song celebrating Scouting, written by a First Presbyterian congregant from early in the 20th Century. Scouts Kate Bracke and Kevin  McCarthy did the readings before Reverend Chris Kile’s sermon. The service ended with a rousing version of “This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine” led by Reverend Chris on the guitar.
Afterwards the Scouts and congregation met in the Thompson Youth Center for refreshments where the Scouts supported the “Souper Bowl Sunday” fundraiser for the Cranford-Elmora Soup Kitchen in Elizabeth. The First Presbyterian Church is the charter organization for Girl Scout Troop 40525, Boy Scout Troop 80 and Cub Scout Pack 103.
