Digital Literacy help at Your Library

The Somerset County Library System of New Jersey (SCLSNJ) can help you enhance your digital literacy. The North Plainfield branch will be hosting free technology training opportunities.

“One day, someone walked in, not knowing how to use a keyboard, a mouse, or how to browse the internet,” said Andres Jinete Salazar, library assistant. “In two hours, that same person was able to fill out an application online. We are so honored to be able to educate and empower our Library customers.”

Tech help programs are dedicated to helping individuals navigate the digital world. Customers can bring in their personal devices or use a Library device, learn about online resources, and ask questions, including: how to use social media, how to navigate a website, how to set up a new online account, how to use a smartphone, how to format a resume, and more.

On Tuesday, September 24, 2024 from 6-7 p.m.: Drop-in Tech Help. Register: sclsnj.libnet.info/event/11106356

“Technology may be empowering to some but can feel debilitating to others,” said Crystal Hooper, branch manager. “We strive to encourage everyone to enhance their digital literacy skills in ways that are meaningful to their lives. Our branch is fortunate to have bilingual technophiles on staff. Contact us to schedule a one-on-one appointment if program times don’t align with your availability.”

The North Plainfield branch is located at 6 Rockview Avenue in North Plainfield. For more information, call (908) 458-8435 or email northplainfield@sclibnj.org. To discover all SCLSNJ has to offer, visit SCLSNJ.org or connect with SCLSNJ on FacebookInstagramX (formerly Twitter), or YouTube.
