Children are welcome to attend this story time program 

dressed in their pajamas and bring along a favorite stuffed animal

for ages 3 & up.

LEGO at The Library:  Thursdays at 3;30pm – 4:00pm

Build with LEGO bricks for ages 4 – 12.

Fun Friday Crafts: Friday at 3:30pm – 4:00pm

Registration is required for each individual craft one week prior to each craft.

Registration is required for all special events.

Kenilworth residents may register one week prior to each event.

Out of town residents may register two days prior to each event, space permitting.

Boogie Woogie Babies: 10:30am – 11:00am on Tuesday, September 10.

Interactive musical program will be presented by Tiffany Taylor 

for ages: 0-  4

Yoga Story Time: 10:30am – 11:00am on Wednesday, September 11

Join us for stories and yoga poses for the youngest listeners and their caregiver.

This program will be presented by certified yoga instructor Heather Valente for ages: 2 –  5.

Microscope Lab STEM Science Workshop

Monday, September 16  at 4:00pm – 5:00pm

Children ages 5 – 10 years old are invited to register for this interactive

STEM related science workshop presented by Union County Magnet High School Students.

Learn about how a microscope works and how to use it. Look at different specimens under the microscope and fill out a worksheet recording observations.

SPECIAL EVENT:  BIRTHDAY BASH STORY TIME

MEET CHILDREN’S AUTHOR LAURA SASSI

Tuesday, September 17 at 6:30pm-  7:00pm

Join us as we celebrate the 10 year book birthday of Goodnight, Ark with a story read by the author, a craft and lots of book birthday fun!  

This program is recommended for ages 3 and up.

National Hispanic American Heritage Month Celebration

Thursday, September 19  at 7:00pm – 8:00pm

Join us for an interactive musical celebration featuring songs in both Spanish and English.

This event combines music, language and culture from various countries around the world.

This program will be presented by  Musiquita performers Blanca Cecilia González and Jesse Elder.

This program has been made possible by funds from The Union County Office of Cultural & Heritage Affairs, a partner of the New Jersey State Council on the Arts.

Children ages 4 – adult are invited to register for this program.

Potato Battery Lab STEM Science Workshop

Monday, September 23  at 4:00pm – 5:00pm

Children ages 5 – 10 years old are invited to register for this interactive

STEM related science workshop presented by Union County Magnet High School Students.

Learn about different types of energy, including green energy. Create a battery circuit from potatoes.

Read To A Dog: Tuesday, September 24 at 4:00pm – 5:00pm

For early beginning readers and those who are learning to read Young, reluctant, or struggling readers are encouraged to register for this program and read aloud for 15 minutes with certified therapy dog, Petey. Children will learn to associate reading with being with this furry, non-judgmental listener and begin to view reading in a positive way. Over time, the child’s reading ability and confidence can improve because they are practicing their skills. Registration is required. Readers may register for a 15-minute visit.

Meet The Illustrator Cynthia Yuan Cheng: Tuesday, September 24 at 7:00pm – 7:30pm

Meet New York Times best-selling cartoonist, Cynthia Yuan Cheng!

Learn about her journey to become an illustrator of graphic novels,

including The Baby Sitter’s Club graphic novel Mary Anne’s Bad Luck Mystery.

Watch this illustrator create drawings for the audience to view.

This program is recommended for ages 4 – 12

Good Tyme String Band:  Wednesday, September 25 at 10:30am – 11:00am

All ages are welcome to attend and enjoy foot tapping knee slapping banjo music.

Kinder Bots STEM Science Workshop:  Thursday, September 26 at 4:00pm– 5:00pm

Children ages 4 – 6 years old are invited to register for this interactive

STEM related science workshop.

Children will begin to explore the world of robotics as they build simple models that teach the fundamentals of robotic design. Whether learning about sensors while building drills and magic wands or discovering ways that gears and pulleys create movement while building helicopters and robotic dogs, every child is sure to have a great time.  This workshop will be presented by Snapology.

This workshop will be funded by The Ralph Errington Foundation.

Learn About Bacteria STEM Science Workshop

Monday, September 30 at 4:00pm – 5:00pm

Children ages 5 – 10 years old are invited to register for this interactive

STEM related science workshop presented by Union County Magnet High School Students.

Learn about what bacteria is and how good and bad bacteria affect our body.

Look at bacteria from food products under a microscope. 

ADULT PROGRAMS

Join us on Tuesday, September 17 at 2-4pm and Monday, September 9 at 6:00pm – 7:45pm for our card making group  “Paper Pals.” You don’t need any paper crafting experience to join the fun. 

“Yarnies”: Join us on Thursdays, September 5, 12 & 19 at 2-4pm and Thursday, September 26 at 6:00pm – 7:45pm. You don’t need any crafting experience to enjoy these creative explorations. Feel free to bring a project to work on.  Watch demonstrations of knitting, crocheting and weaving.  

“Spin – A – Yarn”: Join us on Tuesday, September 24 at 5:00pm – 7:45pm. Bring your spinning wheel or drop spindle and create beautiful yarns!  If you don’t have a wheel, you are still welcome to join us to learn about spinning.
