Wednesdays, July 3 – 31, 7:00-9:00PM: Summit Toastmasters

Refine your public speaking and leadership skills through prepared speeches, impromptu speaking, and constructive feedback in a group setting. No registration required. In-person.

Tuesday, July 9, 6:30-8:30 PM: Jigsaw Puzzle Tournament

Complete a 500-piece jigsaw puzzle with friends and family in a fun tournament! Teams of 2-4 people (ages 12+) will compete for a prize. In-person.

Wednesday, July 10, 7:00-8:00 PM: The Practical Approach to Meditation

Learning how to meditate is easy, and the benefits can come quickly. Join long-time meditator Nirav Sheth who will share a practical technique during the session. There will even be a chance to try meditating. Online.

Thursday, July 18, 7:00-8:00 PM: Art Talk: Tempestuous Beauty: Art Inspired by Flowers and Gardens

The beauty and rich symbolism of flowers have been a source of inspiration across cultures for centuries. View an array of astonishing images from throughout art history, some iconic and some unfamiliar. Presenter: Janet Mandel. Online only.

Friday, July 19, 12:30-1:30 PM: Brown Bag Book Club

Lunchtime book group for adults. Book to be discussed:How We Named the Stars by Andres Ordorica. Refreshments served. Registration is not required. In-person.

Saturday, July 20, 2:00-3:00 PM: Adult Craft Class: Watermelon Coasters

These cute watermelon coasters make the perfect summery addition to your decor for use with all your favorite summer drinks. They make a great hostess gift too! Instructor: Marge Barkan. In-person.

Wednesday, July 24, 7:00-8:30 PM: “Together They Lived and Together They Died” – The Tragic Story of Bonnie and Clyde

Part travelogue and part history, this talk chronicles the story of the Dustbowl Romeo and Juliet, separating the reality from the myth. Historian Christopher Daley uses period photographs and movies plus modern photographs and video taken by him at the sites of their homes, murders, robberies, shootouts, and hideouts. Online.

Tuesday, July 30, 2:00-3:00 PM: Virtual Author Talk with Dan Santat

Caldecott Medal winner Dan Santat will discuss his book A First Time for Everything. The talk will be followed by a live Q&A session. Online.

Build Adventure themed Legos for display. Grades 1-5 and their families.

Wednesday, July 3, 5:00-6:00 PM: Open Craft Day: Indoor Fireworks

Create indoor fireworks with chalk, construction paper, toilet paper tubes and paint! Grades 6-12.

Monday, July 8, 7:00-8:00PM: Jumanji

An improv and acting workshop with Stage a Story. Grades 1-5 and their families.

Tuesday, July 9, 2:00-3:00 PM: Author Talk with Kate DiCamillo (Grades 1-5)

Especially for Mercy Watson Fans, Newbery Medal winning author Kate DiCamillo will be sharing the stories behind the creation of this series and celebrating the series’ final book. Grades 1-5.

Wednesday, July 10, 5:00-6:00 PM: Pictionary

Play team Pictionary at the library for candy and bragging rights. Grades 6-12.

Thursday, July 11, 4:00-5:30PM: Let’s Fly

Create and test out parachutes, boomerangs, hoop gliders and more. Grades 3-5.

Friday, July 12, 10:30 AM-12:00 PM: Baby Dash!

Do the baby dash! Join us on the Library’s front lawn for a fun, age-appropriate obstacle course. No registration required. Ages 2-5.

Monday, July 15, 7:00-8:00PM: Detective Science Workshop

A detective science workshop with Mad Science. Grades 1-5 and their families.

Tuesday, July 16, 2:00-3:00 PM: Author Talk with Max Brallier

Especially for fans of The Last Kids on Earth series, Max will share how he came up with the monsters and villains and the unique ways that Jack and his friends figure out to defeat them. Grades 1-5.

Wednesday, July 17, 10:30-11:30 AM: Book Buddies

Your child will work with a middle or high school volunteer from the YMCA Volunteens Program to read books, play word games, and create stories together. Grades K-3.

Wednesday, July 17, 5:00-6:00 PM: Portraits and Dessert Pizza

Make a drawing of yourself (or anything else you would like) and then make your own dessert pizza. Grades 6-12.

Thursday, July 18, 4:00-5:30PM: RoboThink

Build wacky contraptions, learn engineering and have fun! Grades 3-5.

Monday, July 22, 7:00-8:00PM: Books & Woofs

Practice reading aloud to seeing eye dogs & puppies. Grades 1-5 and their families.

Tuesday, July 23, 2:00-3:00 PM: Author Talk with Elizabeth Acevedo

Especially for fans of poetry, and the author’s award winning novel The Poet X, all are invited to 

learn about the power of poetry. Grades 6-12.

Wednesday, July 24, 5:00-6:00 PM: Bracelets and Candy Salad:

Bring a bag of candy! We will mix them all together for a “candy salad”. Grades 6-12.

Thursday, July 25, 4:00-5:30PM: Board Game Design

Create your own portable foosball game, and an Operation Board Game that works with Scratch and a Makey Makey.Grades 3-5.

Create Lego robots and sculptures. For Grades 1-5 and their families.
