Millburn Public Library July 2024

Adventure Begins at Your Library is the theme of the summer at the Millburn Free Public Library. The Library is pleased to present its July lineup. Programs are free and open to all residents.

Register at millburnlibrary.org/events. All in person programs will take place at the library building at 200 Glen Ave. Registrants will receive a Zoom link for online programs.

Programs for adults:

Concert: The Sounds of Summer with Jay Daniels 

Saturday, July 6, 3-4pm, Auditorium

It’s like a trip to the shore with pianist and vocalist Jay Daniels playing classics like “Under the Boardwalk” from the Drifters, “God Only Knows” from the Beach Boys, and a local favorite from Al Alberts, “On the Way to Cape May.”

Local Author Visit: Eliza Minot 

Wednesday, July 10, 6:30-8pm, Auditorium

Local author Eliza Minot will read from and discuss her critically acclaimed novel In the Orchard, which is being released in paperback this month. Copies will be available for purchase and signing.

The Miracle Mets of 1969 with Rick Feingold (Virtual)

Thursday, July 18, 7-8pm, Online

Join us as we share memories of the 1960s Mets from their 1962 humble beginnings as the worst team in baseball to their triumphant 1969 season as World Champions. Registration is required to receive a Zoom link.

Travel to Iceland with Chris McCormack

Tuesday, July 30, 7-8pm, Auditorium

Professional traveler Chris McCormack, will talk about his experiences traveling through Iceland. This small country has an incredible amount to offer, no matter the season. Discover helpful apps and websites to help navigate the land of fire and ice.

Alien Spaceship Craft 

Friday July 12, 4-4:45pm, Auditorium for ages 4 – 9

Create your own space adventure! Hear a story about a visitor from outer space and then make a spaceship with its own alien pilot. Registration is required.

Ocean Adventure with the Center for Aquatic Sciences 

Friday July 19, 4-4:45pm, Auditorium for all ages 

Adventure through the depths of the ocean like a scientist. You may even meet some animal friends! The Center for Aquatic Sciences’ mission is to empower youth to lead the way in understanding, appreciating, and protecting the environment. Registration is required.

Graphic Novels are Life! Telling Your Own Story (Virtual)

Tuesday July 30, 2-3pm, Online for ages 8+

Join this year’s winner of the National Book Award for Young People’s Literature, Dan Santat, as he inspires tweens and teens to tell their own stories through graphic novels. Registration is required to receive a Zoom link.

Dungeons & Dragons Club

Mondays, July 1, 8, 15 & 29, 5-8pm, Teen Space for ages 12+

Join the D&D fantasy adventure game. Registration is required.

Food Adventures with Janis

Thursdays, July 11 & 25, 3:30-4:30pm, Room B for ages 12+

Hang with Teen Librarian Janis and help make (yes, you’re helping!) a delicious snack. Registration is required.

July 11: Loaded nachos

July 25: Birthday mug cakes (bring your own mug) 

Teens Get Crafty

Wednesday, July 17, 3:30-4:30pm, Room B for ages 12+

Make a Baby Yoda paracord zipper pull. Registration is required.

3D Printing Lab

Calling all tech enthusiasts: The Library’s 3-D printer is available to the community to make three-dimensional objects. Select an .STL file from our online library or design your own.
