Juneteenth event – June 21
The City of Summit is announcing its third annual Juneteenth event will be held on Friday, June 21, 2024, from 5 to 9 p.m. on the Village Green, located at 356 Broad Street in Summit. This free event is open to all members of the public.
The event will feature music and entertainment beginning at 5PM, including face painting, bounce houses, and music from DJ Sincredible. At 6 p.m., the Juneteenth flag raising will be held, followed by a presentation by keynote speaker Kirk Johnson. The Eddie Belton Band will perform a concert from 8 to 9 p.m. The event will also feature food trucks, non-profit displays, activities, games and more.
The event is sponsored by Atlantic Health System, Christ Church, Fountain Baptist Church, Monique Taylor Unique Homes Unique Experiences, Saint John’s Lutheran Church, and the Summit YMCA. The planning committee for this event includes the Summit Department of Community Programs, Fountain Baptist Church, Summit High School Black Student Union, Summit Interfaith Council, Summit YMCA, and Tri-City NAACP.
