Fire Department Ladder Truck Celebrated
Borough of Watchung
On April 18, 2024, The Mayor and Council of the Borough of Watchung held a ceremony to celebrate a brand new Fire Department Ladder Truck. The acquisition of this apparatus was facilitated by a Shared Services Agreement between the Borough of Watchung and the Borough of North Plainfield. About a year ago, Watchung and North Plainfield formed a committee to acquire a ladder truck and applied to the State of New Jersey for a Shared Services Leap Grant. Watchung and North Plainfield were awarded the maximum grant amount of $400,000.00, to assist with the purchase price of the $1.2M apparatus. The apparatus will be shared between the two communities and will respond to all working fires in both Watchung and North Plainfield.
