Third Annual AAPI Heritage Month Event
The Department of Community Programs is hosting its third annual Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month event on Saturday, May 18, 2023. The free event will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. on the Village Green, located at 356 Broad Street. All citizens are invited to attend to celebrate and learn about AAPI culture.
The entertainment stage will feature performances from groups in different Asian communities. The event will also include a Holi celebration and a ceremony to honor accomplishments of the AAPI community. Food will be available for purchase from various local restaurants and vendors.
Several community organizations will set up displays highlighting different aspects of AAPI culture, with heritage showcases, outdoor games, and other activities. To set up a display, contact David Guida at dguidajr@cityofsummit.org.
The planning committee for this event includes members from the City of Summit, the Summit Chinese American Association, and volunteers from surrounding communities. This event is sponsored by the New Jersey state chapter of the National Federation of Filipino American Associations (NaFFAA), Saint John’s Lutheran Church, and Summit AAPI.
