CAP Scholarships awarded
The Bayway Community Advisory Panel (CAP), an organization of local community members and industry representatives including Phillips 66 Bayway Refinery, Infineum USA L.P., Linden Cogeneration Plant, Veolia North America, and Linden VFT LLC, recently awarded $1,000 scholarships to 13 local students in the municipalities of Linden, Rahway, Elizabeth, and Staten Island.
All of the high school seniors will be pursuing Process Technology or Engineering degrees in various disciplines (Chemical, Computer, Electrical, Mechanical) this fall at college. The winners from Linden are Jaiden Jones, and Evelyn Ojeda.
Jaiden Jones is a senior at Linden High School. He has taken Chemistry which is one of the more difficult classes offered at Linden High School, as it requires students to move at a brisk pace, retain incredible amount of information and apply concepts across other topics and subjects. Jaiden is confident in his demeanor and always willing to support a fellow student. He has earned an A average last year and continues to maintain that average this year. He typically produces work that goes above and beyond what is expected.
Evelyn Ojeda is a senior at Linden High School, in Linden, NJ. Evelyn has exceled to become one of the top students in the in her Chemistry class. She has consistently demonstrated a deep knowledge of the material, answered questions with ease and has produced work that goes into great detail. She is confident in her demeanor and always willing to help a fellow student. She is active in extracurricular activities during her time in High School. She is a bright student with a good head on her shoulders, highly talented and a great ambassador for Linden High School. Evelyn will be pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
