CHC Raises Money for Scholarship Fund

On September 26, The Cranford Hockey Club (CHC) held its inaugural golf fundraising event at Echo Lake Country Club to raise money for its CHC Scholarship Fund. The golf featured more than 80 participants who donated their time and money to support the scholarship fund. The scholarship fund’s mission seeks to reduce the financial barriers that prohibit children living around the Club’s home rink, Warinaco Park, from participating in the sport.

During his remarks at the banquet, CHC President Mike DuHaime said, “Unlike baseball, soccer, football, or basketball, where there are numerous playing fields, ice is scarce and hockey equipment is expensive, keeping too many young kids from a sport that will help them gain confidence, make friends, and grow as human beings in a way that only hockey can. The scholarship will cover equipment costs and associated tuition for learn-to-play programs for beginners and for full-year travel players as they learn the game.”

Established in 1956, the CHC is the oldest youth hockey club in New Jersey, providing the best value in the region. CHC is a non-profit, family-focused organization led by volunteers and experienced coaches driven by a love of the game.
