Honor the Heroes Day
I am writing to personally thank all of the Sponsors and supporters of this event that took place on September 10th at the Elks Lodge location in Stirling.
Back in June of this year Lynn Kaplan came to me with an idea to raise money for the local Fire Companies and First Aid Squad. She offered to hold a massive jewelry sale and donate all of the sale proceeds to these three organizations. Based on this idea the Honor the Heroes Day event was born. To even consider holding the event we needed a location. The Elks were extremely gracious in offering their grounds to us to hold the event.
To attract people to the event we needed to have food. To that end a big thank you goes out to Wegmans for their donation of the many cases of water; Kelly Mazzocchi, Exulted Ruler of the Elks Lodge, for her donation of hot dogs and rolls to sell; Wild Bills Root Beer for their donation of soda to sell; Zita’s Ice Cream for supplying ice cream at a reduced cost to sell at the event; Scout Troop 56 for supplying the Scouts and adult leaders to cook and sell the hot dogs and help with clean up. Thank you to the Tia B’s Street Tacos food truck for coming to the event to sell their delicious food to the public.
The Crab Daddy Band generously provided their entertainment talent free of charge.

Without the generosity of the sponsor’s listed above this event would not have been a successful fund raiser for the First Responders of Long Hill Township. This event would also not have been a success without the people power of all the volunteers who helped the day of the event as well as the set up prior. A big thank you goes out to Jim Daley who spent all day Friday helping set up the Elks Lodge grounds for the event, all the Stirling and Millington Fire Companies and the Long Hill First Aid members who gave their time to help on the day of the event. Thank you to the venders who set up tables to offer their goods and services to the attendees.
Again I cannot express enough gratitude to the person who inspired and imagined this Fund Raiser and whose generosity of donating all of the money from her jewelry sale is unmatched, Lynn Kaplan. I am hopeful that we will repeat this event next year and have the same support.
