The 81st Annual Meeting of the Linden Industrial Association (LIA) was held on April 21, 2016 at the Grand Banquet Hall in Linden. Guest speakers included Mayor Derek Armstead, City of Linden, and Nancy Burke, Marketing Manager for the Union County College Business Institute.
The purposes of the LIA are to promote the mutual interests of industries located or having interests in the City of Linden or surrounding municipalities and for such other beneficial purposes as may from time to time be recommended by the Board of Trustees.
Mayor Derek Armstead spoke of his family being in Linden for over 90 years. He stated “Linden has been known as a business friendly town, we want to keep that reputation. Linden is a town that will not survive without industry. The Linden Industrial Association drives our town and helps many families to survive in this town. They help keep this town great.”
Nancy Burke spoke about New Jersey’s efforts to align the state’s workforce with the needs of employers. She gave a presentation on the Logistics and Distribution program offered at Union County College which was recently awarded a $900,000 grant from the state’s Workforce Development Partnership Program to provide workforce development training.
