2022-2023 Second Sunday Lineup Announced

Over the years, Second Sunday programs at the Florham Park Public Library have delighted audiences and brought community members together in celebration. All events are free, open to the public, and though designed with adults in mind, all ages are welcome. Programs, which include extraordinary musical performances as well as intriguing lectures, will be held in the Akhoury Room at 2:00 p.m. on the second Sundays of the month from September through April. Here is the lineup: 

September 11, 2022: The season begins with a patriotic music program featuring the 5-piece Florian Schantz Jazz Combo.

October 9, 2022: Just in time for Halloween, The ABCs of Candy explores the history of a variety of different candies. A presenter from the METC will discuss a different “sweet” for each letter of the alphabet.

November 13, 2022: Meteor showers are coming and Paul Cirillo, of AstronomyNJ, will explain how to best view them! Exploring the Night Sky includes a demonstration of how to use a star map and tips to assist beginning astronomers with identifying constellations and locating planets.

December 11, 2022: Gather for a cozy afternoon to enjoy Holiday Music & Songs.

January 8, 2023: Walter Choroszewski will share fun facts, stories, and histories in The Roots of Rock & Roll Music.

February 12, 2023: Warm your heart and swing into the Valentine season with Rhonda Denet Sings: Romantic Songs.

March 12, 2023: Aideen O’Donnell will delight listeners with a selection of Irish Harp Music & Songs in this prelude to St. Patrick’s Day.

April 16, 2023: Historian Rick Feingold’s Andrew Carnegie: From Steel to Libraries will delve into how Nineteenth-century business magnate Andrew Carnegie amassed an enormous fortune in the steel industry, then became a major philanthropist, donating money to build over 2,500 free public libraries. Please note that this event is held on the third Sunday of April, due to the holiday.
