School District Awarded Achievement Coach Grant

The North Plainfield School District in Somerset County is a year two award winner of the Achievement Coach grant. On May 17th, the North Plainfield School District was recognized for its Achievement Coach program during the State Board of Education’s Special Recognition Ceremony. This annual program spotlights outstanding achievements by districts, schools and students. The program’s hallmark principles of shared leadership and job embedded professional development have quickly been infused into the North Plainfield’s culture in creating an authentic cycle of professional learning throughout the district. PD offered by staff is titled “For North Plainfield, By North Plainfield”; Training conducted on the modules this past year has influenced the plan moving forward in which a Summer Academy will be conducted by the coaches along with other teacher-leaders and administrators on various topics of need noted throughout the district. In addition, North Plainfield’s two year plan to address the needs of their English Language Learner population was inspired by the Achievement Coach theory of action, another indication that the Achievement Coach Program has become an integral part of this district’s development.
