Walnut Avenue 2nd Grade Girl Scouts Take Action!

Cranford Brownie Troop 40772 met with the Superintendent of schools and a School Board Member to discuss the 12 letters that they previously received from the girls. These Brownies caught the attention of the Board and their Principal by raising awareness to areas in need of improvement in their school. More importantly, not only did they address school life issues, the girls came up with solutions and ways that they can help.
Each Girl Scout had the opportunity to share with the Board what was most important to them about how they can help to make a change for the better in their school. A few items that the girls wrote about were fixed as a result of their letters, so they were thrilled to see results as well as the response from the Board. Together they brainstormed ways that they can take action in their school and involve the entire school.
These girls now have the knowledge and power to influence and make changes to help others and we are going to take that forward. They plan to spread their knowledge and ideas by visiting the classrooms of their fellow students to talk about ways they can all contribute to making their school a better place. They also plan to make signs to remind everyone that they all can have an impact.
This activity, part of their Brownie Quest Journey, has demonstrated to the girls that they can have an impact in their community with their words and their actions. We are honored to have the Board take this time to help our girls achieve great things and strive towards helping others. These girls can do anything with the courage, character and confidence they have.
